Released today (June 9th) rising artist Kameron Marlowe put a new, slower version of his hit song “Giving You Up” exclusively for Spotify Singles. The piano driven ballad gives the lyrics of this moving-on tune a chance to truly breathe and allow the listener to feel the emotion he is conveying.
The second Spotify Single is a cover of Johnny Cash’s classic, “Folsom Prison Blues” and with Marlowe’s gritty powerful vocal, he brings a brand new life to the track. Starting off slower, Marlowe growls and as the energy picks up throughout the song, you can feel the desperation. A smattering of electric guitars gives a fresh take, with a gospel vibe on background vocals, if released today as an original, this one would absolutely be a huge smash.
“I chose to cover ‘Folsom Prison Blues’ because Johnny Cash is one of my all-time heroes. To me, he is the Godfather of country music, and I have always had nothing but respect for how his sound and songwriting have influenced so many artists, myself included,” Marlowe says. “And I decided to re-work ‘Giving You Up’ because I wanted to try something new. That song will always hold a special place in my heart, and it’s fun for me to try different styles every once in a while”.
Marlowe was tagged as a Spotify Hot Country ‘Artist To Watch’ earlier this year, with his music being streamed over 73 Million times on the platform. The complete list of Spotify Singles can be found HERE — to date, there have been more than 630 recordings, from more than 300 artists, across all genres, with over 5 Billion cumulative streams.
