We’ve compiled a list of songs that were released last week by independent acts that deserve all the love and attention. Who knows, you might find your next favorite song.
1. “Almost There” by Kaylee Rose
After going viral on TikTok with over one million views, country singer-songwriter Kaylee Rose has released her new song “Almost There.” The lyrics touch on a relationship Rose is holding onto because it almost works out despite the confusion and hardships. In the first verse, Rose exclaims, “Ain’t no destination past this conversation said it all before. We said it all before. We’ve been on this road for so long, don’t know where we’re going anymore.”
2. “Blue Jean Country Queen” by Summer Dean
“Blue Jean Country Queen” is sung by Texas native Summer Dean and was written by Linda Hargrove who also co-wrote the infamous song “Tennessee Whiskey.” “Blue Jean Country Queen” features a certain kind of southern twang that can often be found in older country music; the song itself has an old soul. The guitars and drums are filled with high spirit as Dean sings, “I’m a blue jean country queen caught up somewhere in between the fadin’ of a fever or the dawning of a dream.”
3. “Every Second of Us” by Carolyn Miller
Carolyn Miller’s newest song is a country pop jam about the euphoric feelings that come with a happy relationship. “Every Second of Us” begins with the beautiful, picturesque lines, “Let’s chase every sunset right out of the sky. Let’s not break for nothing, like there ain’t no red lights.” You can hear the happiness in her words as her emotions are full and bright throughout the entire tune.
4. Feels Like This by Alee
Feels Like This is the third studio album from Canadian singer Alee. The project features eight new songs that were all co-written by Alee herself. Highlights on the record include the up-tempo song “Ex-Girlfriend” and the bittersweet closing track “Boys and Girls.” Feels Like This pushes both Alee’s songwriting skills and lovely vocals to the forefront.
5. “Better With Wine” by Erin Grand
“Better With Wine” is the upbeat, new track from Erin Grand about getting wine wasted. The first lines of the chorus are fun and quirky as Grand sings, “You can always find me with a box or bottle. There’s a better me waiting at the bottom.” After the bridge happens, the sound of a cork popping adds a flare to the track.
