Multi-platinum recording artist Kane Brown released his collaboration with H.E.R. titled “Blessed & Free” on Thursday, September 30th. Brown continues to collaborate with artists from other genres to create a fresh new sound that suits his musical tastes. This single follows the previously released “One Mississippi” that’s on its way to make an impact on country radio airwaves.
Brown releasing this cross-genre single should not come as a surprise to those who have been following the native Tennessean. Khalid, Swae Lee, and Marshmello are a few of the acts Brown has been featured with. Incorporating a varying degree of musical styles is only one of the ways Brown is transforming the country music genre and landscape. He’s also recently launched his own label 1021 Entertainment as a joint venture with Sony Music Nashville. Brown has mentioned before he hopes to shed more light on the inclusivity initiatives happening on music row.
“Blessed & Free” has a sound that blends two different artists into one cohesive hit. The melodious track offers a space for Brown and H.E.R.’s vocal range to shine through. Brown’s laid-back style pairs well with his R&B collaborator. Like a slow burn, the track builds all the way through with a vibe fans of both artists will appreciate.
There is a sense of freedom that comes along with this song, as the title suggests. “I got good intentions, I don’t need your blessings, yeah I’m already blessed and free.” Understanding what is truly important in life and realizing self-identity is at the heart of the song. Regardless of outside influences, no one can take away your spirit. “As long as my eyes still see, as long as my heart still beats, as long as I’m alive, I’m free.”
