Nashville-based singer + songwriter Laci Kaye Booth depicts all the grit and glitz the world has to offer. Her eight-track self-titled debut collection came out via Big Machine Label Group concurrently the day that radio station SMX The Highway named the Texas songstress as a “Highway Find” artist.
Laci Kaye Booth opens up with a soft-tempo, slow dance-esque ballad depicting the muscle memory of not walking away in heartbreaking “Used To You.” “On The Fence,” written with Todd Clark, Sara Haze, and Cole Saenz inaugurates with a blaring guitar ascension offering a hint of R&B coupled with a contemporary country making.
The tree of songwriters welcomes Nathan Chapman, Jessie Jo Dillon, Charles Kelley, Sam Ellis, Paul DiGiovanni, Sara Haze, and more, who all dispense tenfold onto the collection. “Broken Heart Still Beats” enlists the help of vocalist and Lady A member Charles Kelley as they sing about the days to come and the gradual light at the end of the tunnel. This song displays Booth’s haunting voice coupled with Kelley’s rasp. One-third of the way in, the instrumentation notices a change in percussion as it becomes meatier, more sustained.
The Chicks and Merle Haggard inspired singer + songwriter lets her guard down in “If He Would’ve Stayed.” What seems like a heartbreaking breakup song at first is actually a ballad about her father walking out on her family when she was three years old. “Heart Of Texas” closes down the record hosting a buoyancy of a fiddle configuration.
As a fan favorite on Season 17 of ABC’s American Idol, the alum is fashioned with a voice full of grit and a transcending personality. The amalgamation won over judges Luke Bryan, Katy Perry, Lionel Richie, and the hearts of America when she auditioned with Merle Haggard’s “Mama Tried.” She placed in the final five and proceeded to turn the heads of executives at major labels and soon caught the attention of Scott Borchetta and Jimmy Harden at Big Machine Record Label where this debut record came out.
“My whole life, I prayed, and I wished for this to happen. I prayed for it every night, and every time I’d blow out my candles on my birthday cake, I’d wish for it,” Booth says, “In my heart of hearts, this is exactly what I always wanted.”
