Gabby Barrett released the deluxe version of her debut album Goldmine on Friday, November 19. Four new songs along with the previous songs on the original album are featured. Known for her powerhouse vocals and vulnerable songs, Barrett’s work aims for her a place among the genre’s brightest stars.
Barrett has had quite the year with award nominations and chart achievements. Three Billboard Music Awards, another number song, and numerous CMA award nominations were added to her growing list of accomplishments. It was also recently announced that Barrett and Carly Pearce were chosen to host CMA Country Christmas on ABC.
“Pick Me Up” is the song that was released ahead of the deluxe album. It’s easy to hear the longing in her voice as she sings “get me outta my head, and out this town, and tell me no matter what, you’ll be by my side, everything gonna be alright.” Also on the deluxe album is a new version of her smash hit “The Good Ones.” “The Good Ones (Wedding Version)” is a sweet and stripped-down take on a song that has become an anthem to so many couples.
Barrett takes on track that is riddled deep with nostalgia. “Never Get It Back” is about realizing you can’t take anything in life for granted. This song mentions formative changes like growing up and leaving your parents’ house to going through a breakup. “Cause times like these, they go too fast, you blink like that, and you never get it back, never get it back.”
The last new song on Goldmine Deluxe is “I Will Always Love You.” Yes, Barrett covers that iconic song first written recorded by Dolly Parton and then recorded by Whitney Houston. Barrett’s vocal ability does the song justice as she sings with the perfect amount of control and passion.
