As every Friday passes, there are numerous songs that come out from independent country artists whose songs are well-written, beautiful, or simply fun. We’ve compiled a list of songs that were released last week by independent acts that deserve much love and attention. Who knows, you might find your next favorite song.

1. NVM” by Kali Arcaris

California-based recording artist Kali Arcaris kickstarted her music career this past year in September with her first single, “Since Summer Started.” Her latest single, “NVM,” written by Arcaris alongside Bryan Lanning, Daniel Martin, and Matt Arenas, is a slow, somber track with noticeable steel-guitar centered instrumental. Arcaris sings in the chorus, “So thank God you never said what’s on your mind / And saved yourself from losing all your pride / I wouldn’t wanna let you down / ‘Cause you ain’t Mr. Right right now / So thank God you never said what’s on your mind.”

2. This is Me by Tyler Short

Country singer-songwriter Tyler Short dropped his latest EP This is Me last Friday on December 17th. The EP is the first of its kind for Short as he showcases his powerful vocal delivery and fervent songwriting. The project features five songs including the unashamed, rock-influenced title track “This is Me” as well as the heartfelt love song, “When You Walked In.”

3. “Truth Like a Lie” by Jarrod Morris

The latest single from independent Texas artist Jarrod Morris is the brutally honest track, “Truth LIke a Lie” where he admits he wants to change himself and better himself for a love interest. In the chorus that acts as a confessional, he exclaims, “I’ve been drinking like a fish / Smoking like a chain / The outside looking in looks the same / And I know you can’t believe me cause it seems like nothing’s changed / I’ve been trying to fix me and losing every time / But the point is baby you’re the reason I try / And the longer I go, I love you more every day / I know I’m different this time / But what do you do when the truth sounds like a lie.”
