The start of the new year marks Naomi Judd’s 76th birthday and 38 years since The Judds earned their first No. 1 hit with “Mama He’s Crazy.” Naomi, alongside her daughter Wynonna, formed one of the most successful country music duos of all time in their short eight-year run with five Grammy awards for “Best Country Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal” between the
years 1985 and 1992. Since then, and most recently in 2017, the two have reunited on the stage bringing old and new fans all over the world together within sold-out venues, proving the love of a mother and daughter never goes out of style.

Today is Naomi Judd’s birthday, and we have five of their most iconic songs to toast to her!

1. “Mama He’s Crazy” from the album Wynonna & Naomi (1984)

“He thinks I hung the moon and stars / I think he’s a livin’ dream / Well, there are men / But ones like him are few and far between / Mama, he’s crazy / He’s crazy over me / And in my life is where he stays / He always wants to be.”

2. “Why Not Me” from the album Why Not Me (1984)

“You’ve been searchin’ from here to Singapore / Ain’t it time that you notice the girl next door? / Baby, why not me / You had to see if the world was round / It’s time that you learned how good settlin’ down could be / Why not me.”

3. “Grandpa (Tell Me ‘Bout the Good Ole Days)” from the album Rockin’ With The Rhythm (1985)

“Did lovers really fall in love to stay? / And stand beside each other, come what may? / Was a promise really something people kept? / Not just something they would say / Did families really bow their heads to pray? / Did daddies really never go away? / Oh, grandpa, tell me ‘bout the good ole days.”

4. “Give A Little Love” from the album Greatest Hits (1988)

“Drive you wild with a smile and then they’ll treat you cruel / Well, I ain’t gonna fall for that ’cause Mama didn’t raise no fool / So give a little love a squeeze and a little kiss / Give a little hug / Mmm, I want some more of this.”

5. “Love Can Build a Bridge” from the album Love Can Build a Bridge (1990)

“I would whisper love so loudly / Every heart would understand / That love, and only love, can join the trials of man / I would give my hearts desire so that you might see / The first step is to realize that it all begins with you and me / Love can build a bridge between your heart and mine.”
