On The Verge: 4 New Country Releases from Independent Acts
As every Friday passes, there are numerous songs that come out from independent country artists whose songs are well-written, beautiful, or simply fun. We’ve compiled a list of songs that were released last week by independent acts that deserve much love and attention. Who knows, you might find your next favorite song.
1. "Her On Out" by Baker Grissom
Grissom delivers a powerful track that combines heartache with optimism. The song is about never wanting to be back in a broken place following a breakup, which is a message many can relate to. The vulnerable song is the perfect choice blaring on a loud speaker.
2. Honestly by Jillian Jaqueline
After teasing a few songs, Jaqueline finally released her brand new album. Every track allows for her artistry to show, further proving she is different from the rest of the pack. A stand-out from the album is "Hurt Somebody Else." The song is about the two sides to every breakup. People can see one person hurting, but often fail to see the other person is hurting too.
3. "Maybe We Should Break Up" by Leah Sykes
Sykes' deep and alluring voice captures the audience's attention from the very first line. The tracking is taken directly from pop or hip-hop songs, but the lyrics remind listeners this is truly a country song. Sykes sings about the toxic back and forth between two people, and knowing it's time to call it quits.
4. "Love Language" by The Kentucky Gentlemen
The dynamic duo have released another jam that many will fall in love with. Known for pairing R&B with their own country style, they bring out the best of southern music. "Love Language" tells the story of figuring out what speaks to that special someone. There are so many ways to show someone you love them, and the brothers sing about them all.
