On The Verge: 5 New Country Releases
As every Friday passes, there are numerous songs that come out from independent country artists whose songs are well-written, beautiful, or simply fun. We’ve compiled a list of songs that were released last week by independent and rising acts that deserve much love and attention. Who knows, you might find your next favorite song.
1. "Drive You Out Of My Mind" by Kassi Ashton
Ashton continues to display her vocal talents on this new track. The richness in her voice only works to elevate her music. Here, she sings about the place where the hurt and need to move on intersect. When the feelings of wanting to get over someone truly take control. Everyone can relate to hoping a long drive can clear one's mind. This song is a great example of why country music is the genre of truth.
2. "West Texas Weather" by Warren Zeiders
Zeiders is a vibrant newcomer who brings high energy to every song he releases. This song exudes Western flare as Zeiders belts out, "She's as wild as West Texas weather." One can only imagine what it would be like to hear this track live. He sings about loving someone who can't be tied down. The woman in his mind is as free as a tumbleweed over the Texan plain, and looks like she'll stay that way.
3. "Son Of A Gun" by Becca Bowen
Bowen is quickly getting praise from the Nashville scene. She delivers the perfect breakup jam for one who has been cheated on. Bowen is able to sing what so many wish they could say. There lies so much power in the lyrics, as well as her voice. In a similar way to how Carrie Underwood sang about beating someone's truck with a baseball bat, Bowen lets all of her listeners know they don't have to put up with a cheating heart.
4. "PETTY" by Taylor Edwards
Edwards is known for embracing country-pop, and "PETTY" continues that sound. This song is refreshing from start to finish. The singer carries so much confidence that she fully takes ownership of how she deals with situations. A lot of people can admit to being on the petty side when it comes to matters of the heart. Edwards reminds them that it is okay to feel that way.
5. "Daddy Don't Drink" by Larry Fleet
Fleet is a special voice in country music today. He sings an emotional and timeless message about how having children can truly change one's life. Nothing can match a father's love for his kids, and Fleet's words prove that. The lyrics reveal that wanting a child's love and respect is the reason the father doesn't drink. It's the kind of song that makes this genre proud.
