Country Music Bars in the UK

Country music is known for its roots in American culture, but over time has grown popular across the pond. Here are some of the top country and bluegrass bars in the United Kingdom.

1. Buck N Bull Saloon

Buck N Bull Saloon is London’s pop-up country music and bluegrass destination. It’s a bar and a nightclub in one, with a western feel you can’t get anywhere else in the area. Crowned best pop-up bar concept at the global hospitality awards 2019, they throw “the hottest country music parties in London bringing a little bit of Nashville and North American magic to the London nightlife scene.” Expect rodeo bull riding, line dancing, live country artists, and a country DJ set. Once the live music stops the DJ keeps the party going all night long. The most exciting part of this venue is that it moves around. They’re not open daily/weekly, but you can go to Buck N Bull Saloon’s website for info on upcoming events.

2. Glasgow’s Grand Ole Opry

This place is an institution. Running in the city of Glasgow in Scotland for over 30 years in a bingo hall-esque setting, the Opry offers its patrons the chance to put on their cowboy boots and dance. Alongside the obligatory line dancing sessions, a healthy shot of live music, mixed crowds, eclectic outfits ('coon skin hats, floral shirts, chaps, holsters, ten-gallon hats), a roomy dance floor to strut your stuff, and a bar with stupidly reasonable prices, you have yourself the mixin for a wild night.

3. Westline Country

Located in Farnham, Surrey, the Westline Country Music Club hosts country music club nights that feature top country artists from the UK. According to their website they "bring together friends, line dancing and the best performing artists from across the UK."

4. The Spice of Life

“Set in the heart of theatreland within the buzzing bohemian community of Soho, the Spice is an institution and part of the McMullen family of pubs since 1986 – A pub that has truly stood the test of time surviving two world wars and retaining its traditional charm.” In the 1960s and 1970s, The Scots Hoose (as it was called then) was a popular venue for folk musicians and saw many great acts of the time; it also became a regular haunt for many punk musicians and followers. The Spice of Life’s history musical excellence lives on today in the live musical acts that continue to perform at the venue. Every so often, the venue will hold "The Country Soul Sessions" for those interested in country music mixed with pop and rock.
