5 Songs By Breland You Have To Check Out

Happy birthday to country star Breland! The artist sits at a masterful intersection of genres, blending country rap, R&B, gospel, and blues. Breland takes the country music form and turns it on its head to create something new. He’s country music for the next wave of fans. He’s country music for a younger, more socially-aware wave of fans.

In September 2019, he wrote the song, "My Truck", about the truck culture found in rural America. The music was a blend of hip-hop and country music and when he posted the song on Instagram; he received a great response and realized he had found his niche in the country-trap genre.

In honor of his birthday, here are the top five Breland songs we think you should hear.

1. "Throw It Back" (feat. Keith Urban)

Breland has collaborated with a wide array of music icons, putting himself at the forefront of the culture. He added another to his Rolodex in 2021 with "Throw It Back," featuring Keith Urban. It’s an R&B country song about a night out at a bar with a woman he's interested in, who he hopes feels the same way.

2. "High Horse" by Nelly, Breland, and Blanco Brown)

This gem sits at the intersection of country, hip-hop, disco, and pop. Featured on Nelly’s country album Heartland, “High Horse” is about a girl who’s riding high that everyone wants to be with. The melody is catchy and buoyant and universal, making this the perfect track for listeners who cannot be tied down to any one genre.

3. "Miles" by Tiera Kennedy and Breland

This song stands out because of its romantic aura. “Miles” is sung as a duet between Breland and fellow country newcomer Tiera. Your heart can’t help but beat for the two who play a couple and harmonize about the emotional journey they’ve taken together: “You're putting miles, miles / Miles on my heart / You keep putting miles, miles / Miles on my heart / And I'm loving it, baby.”

4. "In the Woulds" by Breland (feat. Chase Rice and Lauren Alaina)

This is one of Breland’s earliest collaborations and tells a vivid and beautiful story of what one would do for the person they love. Two of his Instagram followers were given their first major-label writing credit on this song thanks to #BrelandVerseChallenge on Instagram, which he created to engage with his fans during Covid-19.

5. "All I See" by Gary LeVox and Breland

Breland joins Gary LeVox, the lead singer of Rascal Flatts, to sing a sort of prayer song about having faith even in the face of uncertainty and doubt. It’s contemporary Christian music, but whether you believe in God or not, this song will touch you emotionally. The chorus emphasizes the importance of believing in something to get you through hard times.
