Alexander Ludwig Self Titled EP Review

Vancouver native, Alexander Ludwig is no stranger to the spotlight, he has grown up in front of the camera and is ready to finally pursue his other passion up on stage behind the microphone. You may have seen Ludwig on screen in Bad Boys for Life, The Hunger Games, or in the hit series Vikings. Between filming days he would make trips to Nashville to write music with local artists and found great collaborators in Kurt Allison and Tully Kennedy, both members of Jason Aldean’s band. Ludwig recently signed a global recording deal with BBR Music Group/BMG and just released his first self-titled EP, Alexander Ludwig.

Last year, Ludwig released his debut single, Let Me Be Your Whiskey, co-written with Mike Dulaney from Faith Hill’s “The Way You Love Me”. Ludwig’s first single is a classic country heartbreak song with twangy guitars, a catchy chorus, and a melody that could make anyone sing along. He takes inspiration from classic artists he grew up listening to like Alan Jackson and George Strait and mixing it with modern artists like Kenney Chesney, Jason Aldean, and Eric Church.

Alexander Ludwig

Alexander Ludwig pulls together five songs that “blend old-school twang with modern muscle” and each track tells a different story. The tracks include “Love Today” an upbeat song that will be the new soundtrack to your summer, telling a story of a hot summer day with your friends and having the time of your life. “Sunset Town” is a bit of a slower song where Ludwig sings of where he’d be without his love, just waiting for her to come back.

Up next, “How it Rolls” is about going with the flow of love and life, letting the world take you where it wants you to go. “Malibu Blue” is your classic love song every country album needs; Ludwig sings of his love, her beauty, and just how much he adores her. The last song on the EP is “Summer Crazy” which is another anthem for the summer season, spending time with the love of your life and having a crazy good time. All these songs pull together to create an EP that will have you singing along all summer long and looking forward to more from Alexander Ludwig.
