Annabelle Maher Talks Youth In Today's Country Music

Annabelle Maher is a rising talent in the world of country music. With several singles released, she is eager to make her mark. Maher aspires to be the kind of singer-songwriter that other young women can relate to. She sat down for an interview with The Nash News to discuss her future, and what fans can learn about her.

Maher comes from humble beginnings in North Dakota. She splits her time between attending class at her local high school and recording in Nashville. "I play two sports right now too, so it can be chaotic at times," shares Maher. The singer hopes to make the move to Nashville in the near future in order to pursue her musical dreams even further.

Being a teenager can often lead to not being taken seriously by older individuals. While Maher says she has had an overall positive experience in Nashville, she also admits that it can be hard finding the right people to work with that believe in her vision. "People assume because of my age that I don't take things seriously, but you can tell through my writing that I do," she says. Maher also touched on how it makes her different from the rest of the pack as she adds, "I think being 16 has its advantages. It makes me unique since there are so many men." As Taylor Swift had to navigate being young and female in country music, so does this rising singer.

Maher speaks of her new single stating, "'Timbuktu' has a more commercial feel to it than some of my other songs." Maher wrote the track alongside Bridgette Tatum who worked on Jason Aldean's chart-topper "She's Country." The singer-songwriter also notes that she is able to derive inspiration outside of her own experiences. She revealed that two more songs are set to arrive in September with an album coming out later this year.
