Ashley McBryde is one of the fastest-growing names in all of country music, and her latest single, “Light On In The Kitchen” shows fans exactly why. Since 2020, McBryde has had an impressive series of award-winning songs like “Never Wanted To Be That Girl," and “One Night Standards." McBryde strikes gold again with her first release of 2023. “Light On In The Kitchen” is an impressive display of McBryde’s ability to combine both the family values commonly found in country rock and the vocal stylings of more traditional love songs.
“Light On In The Kitchen” tells a story with clever lyrics that deepen the emotional impact as they are progressively revealed. McBryde lists pieces of advice she’s received that made her feel valuable and loved. She recalls her mother's wisdom, exclaiming, “Trust yourself, you better love yourself / Cus’ till’ you do you ain't no good for anybody else." This track's endearing lyricism has the ability to warm hearts on a tough day.
The Arkansas native, while known for her writing ability, is sure to set herself even further apart from the competition with her latest single. McBryde succeeds on every level with “Light On In The Kitchen." The combination of a classic country chord progression reminiscent of Dolly Parton, and skillful vocal runs make for a satisfying and emotional tune that perfectly accomplishes its goal.
