Asian Country Music Artists

These country artists are changing the face of the genre, and we wanted to highlight their talent and original music.

1. Alison Nichols

A Georgia native, Nichols describes herself as “half Korean, half redneck, and 100% American.” Growing up, she always wanted to be as much of a diva as Miranda Lambert, and her skillful songwriting and sassy voice prove that. Her latest single, her debut, “is it just me?” has over 4 million views on TikTok, and Nichols plans to release another new track shortly after.

2. Cody Hibbard

Hibbard was raised on his family’s farm in Adair, Oklahoma. It wasn’t until after he attended the United States Naval Academy and worked in pipelining that he decided to pursue his musical passion. His first recorded single “Half Whiskey, Half Lonely” dropped in September 2019, and his 2020 EP Memory and a Dirt Road has had millions of streams. To date, Hibbard has released two EPs and 6 singles.

3. Gabe Lee

Lee is a Nashville based singer-songwriter. His parents immigrated from Taiwan in the early '80s to pursue graduate degrees in Arizona, and his mother’s career as a classically trained pianist heavily influenced Lee’s musical education. In addition to classical music, Lee’s works reveal classic rock inspiration from artists such as Creedence Clearwater Revival, Bob Dylan, and Fleetwood Mac. Lee has two albums, farmland and Honky Tonk Hell.

4. Enkh-Erdene Otgonbat

Born and raised in Mongolia, Otgonbat achieved fame when he won Mongolia’s Got Talent in 2016. His breakout was covering “Amarillo by Morning” by George Strait which impressed audiences so much that he earned the nickname “Mongolian Cowboy.” Since then, he released a single “Wake Up with You” which he premiered on YouTube.

5. Travis Yee

Las Vegas artist Yee gained an incredible social media following by posting country covers on TikTok. He released his first single “Everything but Country” in October 2020, and it gives Yee’s thoughts about how people usually do not think he sings country because he is of Asian descent. In February 2022, he dropped his third single “She’s Changing.”
