Austin Burke "Take My Life" Song Review

After releasing his EP Changed Everything a few months ago, Austin Burke has no plan on slowing down. He's released his new song "Take My Life," and with it's drop, he plans to make an impact. With this track, Burke will give 15% of his masters to the songwriters.

This is not the first time that the singer-songwriter has used his platform for good. During the COVID-19 pandemic, he and his wife created a Venmo challenge that surprised members of the service industry with larger tips than they were used to. Their act of kindness even got a shout-out from Gayle King on CBS.

"Take My Life" is a tender love song that feels timeless. Written by Burke, Jamie Kenney, and Emma Lynn White, the track speaks to the endearing love that a man feels for the special woman in his life. “When we were writing ‘Take My Life,’ it took us several days to get it exactly how we wanted. We fought to make sure every word and every melody was exactly like we imagined. Without Emma and Jamie, it wouldn’t be what it is now. They were undoubtedly one of the largest parts of the process and that’s exactly what made me want to be able to give a portion of my masters to them," said Burke in a press release.

The sweet track contains lyrics that add a fresh take on a classic message. "I was always just a dollar short and a day late, but you gave me all the reasons that I needed to change my ways, you gave me the answers, the prayers I was praying, you gave me the grace when I needed saving." Burke was able to make a sweet and refreshing new song for couples everywhere.
