In honor of Black History Month, we want to continue to showcase Black artists in the country music community. These are seven artists making their names known in Nashville and blazing trails in the genre.
Chapel Hart
Known for their electrifying audition on the music competition show America's Got Talent, this trio is making waves in country music. Made up of sister Danica and Devynn Hart alongside their cousin Trea Swindle, Chapel Hart's high-energy performances and original music is captivating. Their original song "You Can Have Him Jolene" has surpassed over two million streams on Spotify, plus, the group already has a collaboration with Darius Rucker under their belt titled, "Ol' Church Hymn." O.N.E The Duo
Made up of mother-daughter duo Tekitha and Prana Supreme, O.N.E The Duo's Americana sound is inspired by the likes of Motown along with The Judds and Chris Stapleton. Originally in the hip-hop space, the two bring a unique and needed twist to the country music landscape. The group was named as a part of the highly coveted CMT's Next Women of Country Class of 2023. The Kentucky Gentlemen
Another genre-bending duo, The Kentucky Gentlemen blend the soulfulness of R&B with the catchiness of twangy 90s country music; their smooth vocals are infectious. Since moving to Nashville in 2013, they've worked with people like Grammy-nominated Matt McClure and Chris Sligh (Rascal Flatts). Dalton Dover
Country artist Dalton Dover came onto the scene in 2019 with his single "That Ain't in Her Plans." Fast forward to October, 2022 and Dover is signing with Universal Music Group Nashville. In 2022, he released various singles like "You Got a Small Town," "Damn Good Life," and "Baby I Am" which has reached over 18 million streams on Spotify alone. Tanner Adell
Amassing over 300k followers and 5.7 million likes on her TikTok account, Tanner Adell is known for her direct and fun lyricism. The singer now has over one million monthly listeners on Spotify and her 2022 release "Love You a Little Bit" has surpassed over eight million streams on the platform. Tae Lewis
Named as a part of Rissi Palmer's Color Me Country Class of 2022 alongside artists like Tony Evans Jr. and Madeline Clark, Tae Lewis has been emerging as a rising artist to watch in Nashville. The North Carolina native aims to mis his gospel roots with the country sound, making his discography unique to him.
