Classic Country Couples for Valentine’s Day

Happy Valentine’s Day! In honor of the day of love, let’s take a look at some of the most memorable classic country couples.


1. Johnny Cash and June Carter Cash

This duo first met at the Grand Ole Opry in 1956. This meeting sparked their career together and their feelings for each other. June Carter Cash went on to tour with Johnny Cash. Several years later, they decided to get married and write music together. The two remained together up until they passed in 2003, just a few months apart.


2. Patsy Cline and Charlie Dick

Shortly after Cline’s first divorce, she found her true love, Charlie Dick. The pair were married in 1957 and became inseparable. When Patsy Cline died in 1963, Dick was devastated. He swore to keep her name alive after her death. He made sure to protect her music, memorabilia, and legacy.


3. Dolly Parton and Carl Thomas Dean

Parton and Dean have been married for 55 years, showing that true love can last in the music industry. Though Dean does not like to be in the public eye, Parton still reminds her fans how much they love each other. Parton has stated several times that the two value their independence and privacy because that’s what makes their love stronger.


4. Faith Hill and Tim McGraw

As one of the most iconic couples in country music, Hill and McGraw have paved the way for not only music but romance. They have been married for 25 years. Within that time frame, they have made amazing songs and albums representing their love. Between three kids and numerous awards, the two continually find time for each other.


5. Willie Nelson and Annie D’Angelo

Nelson met D’Angelo on the set of the film Stagecoach. She was working as a makeup artist when Nelson spotted her and fell in love. Though this is Nelson’s fourth marriage, it is his longest. Now living in Hawaii, the pair spend all of their time together.

6. Clint Black and Lisa Hartman

Black and Hartman meet in 1990 at a New Year’s Eve concert. Right after meeting, it was love at first sight. They then married a year later in Houston, TX. In a People Magazine interview, Clint stated, “We’ve grown together in our relationship and never apart.” With duets and a daughter, together, they are unstoppable.
