With the multitude of talented storytellers in the country music industry, it was only a matter of time before their songwriting was utilized in films. Some of the biggest names in country music have also graced the credits of multiple major movies. Here are 5 more country artists that have done movie soundtracks.
1. Kacey Musgraves
As one of the most accomplished country stars to date, Musgraves is a household name for any country fan. Her cover of “Can’t Help Falling in Love” has been featured in the 2022 film Elvis. This film has taken the world by storm and Musgrave adds another emotional layer to an already amazing film. Her song, “All Is Found,” reached a younger audience in the film Frozen 2. With the Frozen franchise having the platform that it does, Musgraves was the perfect complement to an already successful film series.
2. Taylor Swift
Taylor Swift has a broad fanbase, and for many people, their “Swiftie” phase began years ago. The song “You’ll Always Find Your Way Back Home” was written by Swift for the Hannah Montana Movie. Miley Cyrus performed the song, and this was a brilliant crossover between two of the biggest names in the female music industry to date. Their flexibility of genre made them a phenomenal pair for this song. Swift also made an appearance in the film to perform her original love song "Crazier."
3. Brett Eldredge
Eldredge shows his spirituality in the song “Phone Call To God,” featured on the soundtrack for the film The Shack. The award-winning artist wrote this song for the film, and it demonstrates the soulfulness he can put into his work. If there is any song that can describe the depth that Eldredge brings to his career, it’s this beautiful musical tale of faith and God.
4. Loretta Lynn
As the most awarded woman in country music, Lynn’s appearance on this list should come as no shock. The vocalist really was the daughter of a coal miner, so this song was especially personal for her. When it was used in the film that served as a biography of her life, it was only natural that the song should be used. Not only does it serve as a mini autobiography, but it was her first time reaching the top of the charts. Sissy Spacek, the actress who portrayed Lynn, went on to win an Academy Award for her performance in the film.
5. Blake Shelton
High schools across the nation perform the staged musical: Footloose. It was based on the original 1984 film, which has since been remade. The title song, “Footloose,” was covered by Blake Shelton in the 2011 remake of the film. His deep voice adds something to the musical that emphasizes the authenticity of its message: that artists cannot be silenced.
