Country Songs for Tailgating

The fall season is notorious for one thing in America: football season. Football, whether it be college or professional, is majorly celebrated anywhere and everywhere. Many fans choose to tailgate when the game rolls around. It wouldn’t be a great tailgate without country music; therefore, The Nash News has put together a list of the top five songs you must play at your next tailgate this football season.

1. “Red Solo Cup” by Toby Keith

“Red Solo Cup” is the perfect tailgating song. It’s funny lyrics and upbeat melody give an insight into what makes a party: the traditional red solo cup. “I love you, red solo cup / (What) I lift you up / Proceed to party (party)."

2. “Play it Again” by Luke Bryan

Though this may be a love song, at a tailgate, it has a different meaning. When the ref calls a play that you don’t like, you can say “Play it again, play it again, play it again” like Luke Bryan. This could turn into a fun game that pleases both teams.

3. “Up Down” by Morgan Wallen ft. Florida Georgia Line

“Up Down” is a great country party song, especially for football season. The lyrics match the upbeat melody: “Can turn this parking lot into a party / With an ice chest, dancing, cold beer / Man, we live it up, down, up, down / We live it up down”. If you’re tailgating outside the stadium, be sure to follow what FGL and Wallen say and turn the parking lot into a party.

4. “Home Game” by Cole Swindell

Swindell’s “Home Game” captures the essence of what it’s like to be at a football game. The visual lyrics tell the story, saying “Cause soon as those jerseys hit the field / You know that's when it got real / With the rivalries and ride with me's / And let me know where you're gonna be's, yeah.” If you need a song to wind down the tailgate, “Home Game” is your go-to.

5. “Orange And White” by Conner Smith

This upbeat Smith song is perfect to shout and have a beer to: “Now I got a Georgia girl singing rocky top / Lining up another Tennessee whiskey shot / Stealing my heart and my Bill Dance hat / Now I'm telling her Athens ain't getting her back / She pulled me close and I spun her around / I laughed and said 'Girl look at you now / You've been red and black for your whole life / Now you’re falling for a boy in orange and white.'”
