Dolly Parton "Don't Make Me Have To Come Down There" Song Review

Leave it to Dolly Parton to gift fans a song in honor of her own birthday. The icon surprised everyone by releasing her new song, "Don't Make Me Have To Come Down There." On behalf of your fans, thank you miss Parton.

Parton is someone who needs no introduction. For over five decades, she has wowed the world with her talent, humor, and kindness. She's a member of the Grand Ole Opry, a member of both the Country Music Hall of Fame and Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, a Grammy winner, film star, producer, and businesswoman; there really isn't anything she can't do. Last fall, she even released an album of her greatest hits Diamonds. and Rhinestones. Parton is constantly proving that she shows no sign of slowing down.

"Don't Make Me Have To Come Down There" contains everything people love about Parton: authenticity, heart, and a wonderful story. The song starts out like a drive to a familiar place. When Parton begins singing, a sense of hope and wonderment is present. There is a consistent energy and quality to the song that makes it hard to want to only listen to it once.

By the time the chorus arrives, it's clear what message is at the heart of the song. Parton sings about a dream where God had visited her and saw the world in "dismay." "In my dream I heard him say / Don't make me have to come down there / My children you had best beware / If you don't pay attention, consequences will be dire." With so much going on in the world, Parton reminds her listeners that we all need to do better for one another.
