Elvie Shane ‘Backslider’ Full Length Album Review

Elvie Shane, a singer/songwriter for WheelHouse Records released his debut album, titled Backslider, today October 29th, 2021. With songwriting credits on all 15 of his tracks, Shane is a force to be reckoned with. Several of his songs were previously released; One of which, “My Boy” has skyrocketed to the top spot on the country radio charts. The other songs catching some traction while pre-released are “My Kinda Trouble”, “Sundays In The South”, “Sundress”, “Country Roads”, “Keep On Strummin,’” and “My Mississippi”.

What’s unique about this album is that as a cohesive project, it focuses on a lot more than just Shane, it also shines a spotlight on life in small town America, or really any small town regardless of country of origin. This project, full of honesty and thrilling vulnerability, pulls together a fusion of Gospel, R&B, Country, and Classic Rock N Roll. Each track is a new feel, a new vibe, and a new story itching to be told. When Speaking about Backslider, Shane says “It’s about more than just me. Whether you’re from the United States or the other side of the world, we’ve probably experienced the same things: heartbreak, family trouble, love… the yearning for a better life. These songs are my personal stories written so they rhyme … but I think they are stories that happen to each and every one of us.”

There are tracks that cover from traditional country picking ballads to upbeat classic rock-inspired guitar riffs. No matter what vibe the audience is looking for, Backslider has it covered.
