Hank Ruff "Whiskey Always Wins" Song Review

Hank Ruff is an exciting newcomer in Nashville. With the release of his brand new song "Whiskey Always Wins," fans can learn even more about who Ruff is.

The name "Hank" is famous in the world of country music. Hank Williams Sr. is actually who Ruff was named after. Ruff was born and raised in Indiana and always knew music was the path for him. He began playing in his dad's band and the two would go on to write songs together. Ruff is also a recent graduate of Indiana University. Ruff released his EP Hellbender and it quickly earned momentum on iTunes. There's a solid chance everyone will be hearing more about Ruff in the coming years.

"Whiskey Always Wins" has the energy and lyrics that truly make it a country song. The track features prominent co-writers, Joey Moi and Lynn Hutton. Moi is best known for writing hit songs for Florida Georgia Line, Nickelback, and HARDY to name a few. Hutton's credits include Lainey Wilson, Eric Church, and Jason Aldean. With discography like that, this song is already steeped in anticipation.

This song matches the style of Ruff's cowboy hats and ball caps. The title makes it seem like an ode to whiskey, which is partly true. He croons, "It's caused me to break a heart / It's got me in a couple of fights / It's made me wonder where the hell we are on a Friday night / Man, it's messed up my thinking / Made me blow a bunch of cash / After a few hard rounds of drinking ain't no point in fighting back." It's clear Ruff understands the hold whiskey has on him, but that doesn't always mean he thinks it's a bad thing.
