Harper Grace "Sparkle" Song Review

Texas native Harper Grace’s debut single “Sparkle” was released on Friday, March 17th. The rising singer-songwriter is the newest addition to the Curb Records artist roster and her major label launch was marked with glitz, glamor, and the perfect amount of confidence.

The instrumentation of this song feels classically country. The guitar riff that leads into the track helps to draw the listener in and the introduction of the drums into the first chorus emphasizes the power behind the message. The band works in perfect harmony to complement Harper Grace’s vocals.

The singing in this is truly the best part. Like her band, Grace has the classic sound that you want from an up-and-coming country singer. She has the right amount of twang, and as she demonstrates in “Sparkle," she’s not afraid to belt it out at the end of a song. Her voice pairs excellently with the song and the genre she’s working in.

Her vocals also match the headstrong lyrics blissfully. Lyrics like, “Sometimes that sun's too bright / I like country stars and a Texas sky” and “Like headlights down a dirt road / that’s the way I shine” are just a few of the lines that pair well with the country style. They use the same classic country themes of trucks and back roads while adding a fun feminine touch.
