Ingrid Andress "Good Person" Song Review

Ingrid Andress is still creating ripple effects with her music and empowering lyrics for young women everywhere. The 3x Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter released her latest single, “Good Person” on Friday, April 15th, 2022. The song acts as a reflective process for Andress and her journey as a human being until now.

“I wrote ‘Good Person’ when I realized that I was starting to question a lot of things,” Andress says in a press release. “What makes somebody good and what does that look like, and in a world of being so judgmental of other people, what makes you better than them?” Andress continues, “With the video, I really wanted to mesh these worlds of light and dark and highlight the parallels between the two. Stay tuned fam. This is just the beginning.”

There’s no question that the last two years have had everyone searching for the good in the world, but it seems as though even our favorite celebrities have taken time to reflect upon what matters most and what people will remember about them besides a catchy lyric.

This song brings Andress into a new phase of her music career exiting her record-breaking debut album, Lady Like, which became the highest-streamed debut album from a female country artist at the time of release. Andress addresses the absolute ambiguity that life throws at us. She sings in the chorus, “But I pray for the ones that I love every night / And I've shattered some hearts and my thoughts get dark / But I'd stop for a stranger who's falling apart / I'm still learning / Good, good person.”

Last August, Andress released “Wishful Drinking” featuring Sam Hunt, which has been climbing the country radio charts. In “Good Person” there is a peaceful balance between a soft pitch and a wide range of vocals, including noticeably ethereal layered chorales in the background. Throughout the track, she invites the audience to introspectively ask themselves what makes a “good person” in an encouraging way.
