Jordan Davis 'Bluebird Days' Album Review

Jordan Davis has consistently released hit songs throughout his career, and now he has a new project to take him even higher. His sophomore album Bluebird Days seems to combine everything fans love about the singer: songs about good times and being in love.

The album contains previously released tracks "Next Thing You Know," "What My World Spins Around, "Midnight Crisis" featuring Danielle Bradbery, "Money Isn't Real," and the record-setting No. 1 song, "Buy Dirt" feat. Luke Bryan. "Buy Dirt" won Davis the CMA award for Song of the Year in 2022, and it was one of the top streamed songs in both 2021 and 2022. His brother Jacob Davis was a co-writer on that song and is featured as a co-writer on almost all of the songs on the new LP.

"Damn Good Time" kicks off the record in grand fashion. Davis has often drawn on the soulful nature of his Louisiana roots in his style, and this one represents that perfectly. It's groovy and indicates the feel-good nature that envelops the entirety of Bluebird Days. "Fishing Spot" shows off Davis' more reflective side. It's about longing for a place that brings back memories of a loved one who is no longer there: "Instead of standing at your stone / I'm sitting on a rock, catching up with you at your fishing spot."

"One Beer In Front Of The Other" carries the familiar laid back style people love about Davis. This song can also be viewed as the party anthem of the album. There's a hip-hop tracking that persists throughout, which is great at hooking fans in. Davis sings about how he would get over a breakup: with a beer in both hands.

"What I Wouldn't Do" is the last song on the record before "Buy Dirt." Here, Davis sings about past mistakes and how he would do things differently. He exclaims,"I wouldn't need an empty bed to know how bad I miss you in it / No I don't know how to make it up to you / But I damn sure know just what I wouldn't do." While it is about regret, there is also a sense of growth. This entire album makes it feel as though Davis has hit his stride in his personal and public life.
