Kameron Marlowe 'We Were Cowboys' Album Review

Kameron Marlowe's debut album We Were Cowboys has finally arrived. After a whirlwind year of touring with Morgan Wallen, releasing new music, and gaining traction on social media, the rising star is ready to show fans what he is made of.

The 16-track project includes "Giving You Up" which became his breakout song. "Burn 'Em All" also racked up views and streams. It was the song "Steady Heart," however, that proved the singer displays true depth in his music. He sings hard-hitting lines, "When we come together we're the best of who we are / My stubborn mind, and her steady heart."

"Country Boy's Prayer"also stands out. Marlowe sings about all of the important things he hopes to have, and what so many country boys like him desire. With its relaxed tempo, his voice and style shine. He continues to sing about his small-town experiences with "This Old Town." It's about the appreciation he has for where he grew up, something many can relate to. "This old town and barbed wire fences, gets you no where fast, if you don't listen."

Marlowe shows his vulnerable side with "Runnin' Out On You." The faint acoustics give way for the heart of the song to do the talking. "You're running out of patience / And I'm walking on thin ice / And we'll just keep on saying / It'll be different this time." The track "Saying Goodbye" is another example of Marlowe wearing his heart on his sleeve. It sounds like a scene from a movie where heartache runs deep. The act of someone saying goodbye is never easy to walk through, and Marlowe sums it up with this song.

The album concludes with "Long Way Down." Marlowe's vocals are on full display with this track. The fusing together of rock and country can be seen throughout the record, but it comes full circle with every line he sings. This album perfectly reflects and encapsulates Marlowe's sound and edge as he shows everyone he will be one to keep an eye on.
