Lainey Wilson "Watermelon Moonshine" Song Review
Lainey Wilson released her brand new song "Watermelon Moonshine" just in time for the winding down of summer. The singer also announced her new album, Bellbottom Country, will be out on October 28th.
The Louisiana native has had an eventful summer to say the least. She released "Heart Like A Truck" and performed at CMA Fest. Her performance with Cole Swindell on their hit song "Never Say Never" also earned a spot on the CMA Fest TV special on ABC. To add, everyone was buzzing about Wilson's upcoming role on the hit series Yellowstone. With a new album on its way, Wilson will prove she is one of the finest country music has to offer.
"Watermelon Moonshine" showcases Wilson's best qualities: honest lyrics with her signature sense of down-home country. The song seeps in young love with lines, "We were learning off a sweet buzz / There's never nothing like the first time / And mine's always gonna taste like watermelon moonshine." The song is soulful and just as charming as the singer behind it.
As much as "Strawberry Wine" shaped a generation of listeners, "Watermelon Moonshine" seems to have the same goal. The style feels effortless and sensual at the same time. The feelings that come with a first love can feel overwhelming, and Wilson manages to sing a song that makes it out to be pure and simple.
