Looking at the CMTs Nominated Trending Comeback Songs of the Year
The 2022 CMT Music Awards will be broadcasted tonight on CBS and the CMTs have recently announced a new viewer-voting category this past Tuesday, April 5th, 2022. The Trending Comeback Song of The Year category has the goal of respecting and valuing the iconic and at this point in the digital age, timeless, country artists. The artists and fans might read these songs and think “I blinked and how are these songs over a decade or more old?” Here is the list of nominated songs that will never go out of style and made a comeback for the past year.
Alan Jackson – “Freight Train”
Brooks & Dunn – “Neon Moon”
Dolly Parton – “9 to 5”
Reba McEntire – “I’m A Survivor”
Sara Evans – “Suds in the Bucket”
Shania Twain – “Man! I Feel Like A Woman!”
Taylor Swift – “Love Story”
Each of these songs have had their share in the spotlight on social media in the past year. Some went viral on TikTok like “Neon Moon,” which now has an endearing dance attached to it according to the Gen Z audience. Another example, Reba McEntire’s “I’m A Survivor” has young women recording the simple tasks they do throughout a day to poke fun at the first-world problems they have like “running errands” which consists of ordering a Grande Vanilla Sweet Cream Cold Brew from their local Starbucks while pursuing the Target aisles. Social media has allowed a comeback of country music songs like no other and the viewers and interactions that fans have with their favorite stars says it all.
