Country singer Maren Morris has released seven reimagined tracks from her third studio record Humble Quest. Along with the new spin-offs, Morris has also revealed a short film to go along with the music. On social media, she shared that this project consisted of "No lighting, no bells and whistles, just Mother Nature, music and friendship."
Filmed in the mountains of North Carolina, Morris' new versions feel like the salt of the earth. With little production, each track feels more vulnerable and filled with air. "The Furthest Thing" is the first track to get a new rendition. With a piano doing most of the work in the instrumental, Morris' vocals shine; they pull back when they need to, and they stretch and show off her range in the right spots. During the bridge specifically, her voice lifts angelically as she exclaims, "Distance makes the heart grow stranger / When the stars go out of view / Something in the universe pulls me back to you."
Playfulness comes through in the "rare form" edition of "I Can't Love You Anymore." She emphasizes certain words while adding attitude to others in lines like "You like me even when I've been a bitch" and "You're so good lookin' it kinda makes me sick."

In "Tall Guys" there's a beachy feeling as the acoustic guitar takes the forefront. At the end of each chorus, backing vocals layer over Morris' adding an ethereal notion. A spirited piano harmony is added in once the second verse arrives.
The standout track in its newest form has to be "What Would This World Do?" With a sole piano, under the stars, and surrounded by nature. The track feels meant for this setting; it seems as though Morris is singing her questions to the universe. The phrases in the lyricism act as reflections of the intimate setting making for the perfect closer: "The leaves will turn when the air goes cold / And the birds will fly to Mexico / But there's answers I don't wanna know / Like what would this world do without you?"
