Over the course of the last year, Morgan Wallen has organically leaked music to his fans on TikTok or Instagram, allowing the raw, unedited versions of songs to be the first listen for many. He then has followed up the social media posts with studio versions of songs like "Don't Think Jesus" a few weeks back on Good Friday, "Thought You Should Know" this past Friday, and "You Proof" will be next, on Friday, May 13th.
"Thought You Should Know" is a heartfelt letter to his momma, written by Wallen along with hit songwriter Nicolle Galyon and superstar Miranda Lambert. Galyon shared on Instagram that it was "a blessing" to be a part of this song, and dedicated her participation to her son, who she's been "losing sleep over" since 2015 when Ford was born.
The track boasts a heavy slide and acoustic guitar, allowing for Wallen's genuine country twang to shine. Although a personal message with specific references, many can relate to the sentiment of being grateful for a mom who has always been their biggest supporter.
"I thought you should know / That all those prayers you thought you wasted on me / Must've finally made their way on through / I thought you should know"
Only time will tell when the next project will be released but fans will continue to consume and send Wallen's track to the top of the release charts as he releases them.
Wallen is treking across the country this summer, not only on his Dangerous Tour which has sold out shows but also as a headliner at multiple festivals. Head to morganwallen.com for full list of appearances.
