Nate Barnes released a brand new song "Girl Like You" and a radio-ready version of his 2021 track“Right About Me” available everywhere today, March 18th, 2022.
The fresh tracks follow Barnes' 2021 EP You Ain't Pretty. “Right About Me” was written by hit songwriters Jason Sellers, Neil Thrasher and Michael Delaney. The intriguing song tells the story of how a good-hearted woman can tame even the wildest of hearts. His lyrics question and leave balance for what people preconceive of you versus what is actually true. Barnes sings, “They say I’m just like my old man / You never fall for the way I am.” The radio version will impact stations across the US on March 21st and features a fuller, more thorough production.
“Girl Like You," contains a fiery overlay of instruments and a strong lyrical presence; it's also more uptempo compared to his previous originals. Throughout the song Barnes is explaining what people might assume about a “country boy’s” actions. This is explained by the lines, “I’ve got a hell raisin’, haymakin’ reputation in this town / She won’t last it’ll pass / Yeah that’s the rumor goin’ round / That boy won’t give those backroads up / She wouldn’t be caught dead in that truck.”
For the new country guy who is the flagship artist signed to Quartz Hill Records, this year is the time of expedition and growth for Barnes. Keep an eye out for him as he just announced his appearance on the Panama City Beach for the Gulf Coast Jam on June 2nd-5th with headliners Florida Georgia Line , Brooks & Dunn, Old Dominion, and Brett Young.
