Old Dominion “All I Know About Girls” Song Review

Reigning ACM Vocal Group of the Year Old Dominion released their new single “All I Know About Girls” on Friday, August 20th. This song follows their previously released single “I Was On A Boat That Day,” which is currently climbing the charts.

The band has been an unstoppable force ever since their debut single “Break Up With Him” came out in 2015. Their long list of hits includes “Hotel Key,” “Make It Sweet,” “One Man Band,” and “Some People Do.” Lead Singer Mathew Ramsey is a sought-after songwriter that has worked with artists such as Thomas Rhett, Kenny Chesney, and Sam Hunt. Old Dominion’s radio-heavy songs and chemistry are a part of what has made them so successful.

“All I Know About Girls” has a low-key, acoustic style that works well with the bands’ harmonies. The track was teased on their social media by the guys playing guitar by a fire pit. It’s evident that’s exactly how naturally the song was created. “All I know about girls is I don’t know nothing at all” is a simple line that makes the entire song come together.

This song is about trying to figure out what women want and need. How relationships work can be written about a million different ways, but Ramsey is singing about what he does know before realizing he doesn’t know everything. “All I know about girls is you best get out of their way, shut your damn mouth if she got something to say.”

A stand-out moment in the track is with the lyric “It’s probably the reason Hemingway drank, all the lovesick blues that were written by Hank, they all got stuck right where I am.” It makes the connection that matters of the heart have long been fixtures for great art.
