We’ve compiled a list of songs that were released last week by independent and rising acts that deserve much love and attention. Who knows, you might find your next favorite song.

  1. "Black Sheep" by Leah Marie Mason

Mason has released a powerful new song with an important message. The track takes on mental health, and aims to be a voice to those who need one. September happens to be Suicide Prevention Month, making this song that much more meaningful. "'This song was born from my own experiences in high school and college. It's about those vulnerable times, the challenges I faced, and how I grew. It's the song I needed back in high school, so if it can help even one person, it's worth it," shared Mason per press release.

2. "Friends" by Tyler Braden

Braden has given his fans a reason to celebrate: he has released a brand new song. He brilliantly describes what it feels like trying to be friends with an ex. The lyrics are about navigating this delicate spot that plenty of people have found themselves in. Braden enjoys infusing a bit of rock in his country, and it works to his favor especially on this track.

3. "Carolina Burns" by Carter Faith

Faith captures so effortlessly what it's like to look back on an old flame. She delves deep into the memories that linger from a first love, and all the heartache that comes with it. Faith's voice is just as mesmerizing as it always is. Her artistry and illustration of her own feelings easily connects with fans. This is a singer-songwriter with a special gift.
