Parker McCollum is continuing to give fans a taste of new music with the release of "Stoned." After performing the song while out on the road, McCollum is now delivering the studio version.
It was only a few months ago that the Texas native released "Handle On You." That song is heating up on the country airwaves and continuing to propel McCollum to new heights. He is the reigning ACM New Male Artist of the Year and spent 2022 opening for Thomas Rhett. McCollum is also set to open for Morgan Wallen on the newly announced 'One Night At A Time World Tour.' As his debut LP suggested, the gold chain cowboy is proving to be one of country music's most promising ambassadors.
"Stoned" evokes the kind of musical nostalgia of someone like Hank Williams Sr. McCollum possesses many of the same qualities as the late icon of music. His storytelling and vocal inflictions bring a sense of 'old-school country' back into the forefront. McCollum's anthems about heartbreak and loss are what this genre is all about.

"I cry when it's raining / I cry when it's dark / I feel like the whole world won't ever understand my heart / That's the hardest part of being alone / That's why I stay stoned," begins McCollum on the track. The incorporation of using substances to numb a hurting heart has long been used in country songs. McCollum finds a way to bring that idea to a new generation of listeners. His simple, straightforward lyricism allows the wary emotion to truly resonate. This song is a testament to his artistry and a promise of what's to come.
