Roman Alexander “Mess Me Up” Song Review

As Valentine’s Day week comes to a close, Roman Alexander is ending it by releasing his newest single “Mess Me Up." This tune is the amalgamation of the pop-country genre and the emotional vulnerability needed for any good love song.

Roman Alexander is a rising star in the country music scene. His previous single, “Cocktail Conversations," got him a performing slot on The Today Show. He’s opened for artists like Sam Hunt, Old Dominion, and Billy Currington. All of this has led up to “Mess Me Up”, where he got the chance to work with Grammy-winning Josh Kerr and Jordan Minton to write the song.

This song has all the classic elements of a pop-country tune. From the background vocals buried in the song to the coke and whiskey reference, “Mess Me Up” is the perfect track to blast on when driving on the highway.

The lead vocals and lyrics are meant to shine. Lyricism like, “Nine times out of ten / I don’t wonder if you’re up wondering / If I am too” and “Mess me up / ‘Cause I don’t want you to / Slipping through my sheets / Oh, when you leave they smell like you“ help the listener to understand how much the singer is willing to give to be with someone they love with the perfect amount of description and detail.
