Sam Hunt recently released his new single “Outskirts." The “Body Like a Back Road” singer is going on tour after releasing a few new singles this year, like “Walmart." His newest single is sure to be a hit on the road.
The ballad begins with hints of a gentle guitar that grows into a strong tune with passion. Hunt’s powerful voice tells a story with incredibly visual lyrics: “But soon as I get out here on the outskirts / I wish I was runnin' by your house first / Somethin' 'bout a summer in the south sure / Shines like gold down these old / Round bail river valley backroads.” The lyricism tells the story of a man who reminisces about the outskirts of town where he was once in love with a woman.

Throughout this track, Hunt imagines what life would have been like if they stayed together as he exclaims, “We were gonna give up on the fast life / Have a couple babies, raise em up right / Take 'em to the river, get 'em baptized / Back in our day if I'da just stayed.” This
song’s storytelling abilities are untouched, and Hunt does it with such ease.
