Scotty McCreery Accepts the Angels Among Us Award at Country Cares 2022

Country star Scotty McCreery was honored with the prestigious Randy Owens Angels Among Us Award at this year's Country Cares Seminar in support of St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

The Multi-Platinum-selling artist received the award for his work with the children's hospital over the years. McCreery and his wife Gabi, have continuously been visiting the St. Jude campus and donating to the mission. After a game of Celebrity Family Feud in 2018, McCreery donated his earnings of $25,000 to St. Jude.

St. Jude's mission circles around all-encompassing care for kids who are under their supervision. They never bill patients and their families for any treatment, traveling, housing, or food. When McCreery was asked how becoming a father might change how he perceives the vocation of St. Jude, he notes while tearing up, "I would imagine a lot. I think for me, I'm just noticing more when it comes to kids." He adds, "I think for me, whether it's going to the hospital or seeing the St. Jude commercials or knowing the work that St. Jude is doing in general, and then being a dad in five weeks now, I think I'm gonna be that much more passionate about supporting them and wanting to help these families going through that because I can't imagine it."

McCreery received the award on stage at the seminar from Alabama lead singer Randy Owen who is essentially the founder of Country Cares and the reason the country music industry works so closely with the charity. When speaking before the ceremony, he explained his fondness towards Owen exclaiming, "I think he's done such an amazing job of getting the country music family and St. Jude together and made this what it is today all these years later."

Next month, McCreery will be sharing a deluxe version of his 2021 record Same Truck with six new tracks including "Fallin' for a Stranger" and "Small Town Story of my Life."
