Tenille Arts "Jealous of Myself" Song Review

Canadian country singer-songwriter, Tenille Arts, has just dropped her new single, “Jealous of Myself." The release is her first of 2022 and signifies the start of a new musical era for the rising star.

This is a powerful anthem of missing someone that used to be a loved one. It’s easy to get lost in the lyrics and feel the sorrow of no longer being with that person. She sings, “Ain’t a day that I don’t wish that I could be her / The way you hold her like you’re never gonna leave her / Every lover in your hometown too / I’m jealous, I can’t help it / I want every second that your hands around her body / How you put her name in every prayer to God / She has it so good but she has no clue / I’m jealous of myself when I had you.” The lines cut deep and the pain radiating from Arts' voice is easy to feel. The combination of her soulful and passionate vocals with moody instrumentals curates the story that she's trying to tell.

Arts was born and raised in a small town in Canada but now calls Nashville home. Her self-titled EP spent time at #1 on the iTunes Canada Top Country Album Chart and made it to the top 100 on the U.S iTunes Country Album Chart. She was also inducted into the CMT Next Women of Country Class of 2021 and was also nominated for ACM Award for New Female Artist of the year. With a lot of credits to her name, she most recently wrapped a tour with Lady A. Needless to say, she is a rising star in her own right and blazing her own path in the country music industry.

With her powerful songwriting ability and evident passion for her craft, Arts is making a name for herself in Canada and the U.S. There’s no denying that she is the real deal and is as genuine as her music is. Her maturity and introspective perspectives ring loud and clear and it’s easy to be hooked on this new song and play it on repeat.
