Tina Barrett “Seventeen” Song Review

A brand new song from the Kansas City native is out now; Tina Barrett has released her second single “Seventeen” this past Friday, March 18th, 2022. Off The Row’s Studio artist’s new song is co-written by Barrett herself and Sarah Morey.

Barrett has been into music as long as she can remember. In a press release she stated, “Songwriting helps her process her feelings and find joy.” New to the music scene, you wouldn’t know it because of the vocals presented in this single.

She sings, “Oh how the miles go / We were flying fast, but slow / We had nowhere to go / I just wanted to be with you even though there was nothing to do / Just to be close to you.” From the moment the strum of the guitars start, there is a feeling of nostalgia and a want to jump back in the passenger seat of your high school boyfriend’s truck. No worries in the world, just living in the moment right then and there.

Barrett gives her credit to her love for music to her father as he inspired her to become a musician. This new single closely followed her debut single “Lovin’ You Is Easy” which was released earlier this year. Her lyrics, “And you look over at me, brown eyes and that nervous smile / Let’s just sit here for a while,” convey the lighthearted outlook on life to have throughout any season you might be going through. In this new single there is a constant acoustic guitar sounding throughout at a tempo that is easy on the ears and would match nicely with a swaying dance around the room.
