Top Five Faith Hill Songs from the '90s

Besides being part of a thrilling power couple with Tim McGraw, Faith Hill is best known for her rise to fame in the 1990s. Her first two albums rocked the charts, with three number-ones on Billboard’s Country Chart. Here are Hill’s top five country songs from the '90s.

1. “This Kiss”

As Hill’s first international success, “This Kiss” takes its rightful place on this list of one of the best Hill songs of the ’90s. This tune succeeds in its story about finding fulfillment with someone else despite previous heartbreak, “Kiss me in sweet slow motion / Let's let everything slide / You got me floating, you got me flying.” A song like this is beyond timeless and deserves recognition for the way it has pervaded the evolution of country music since its release.

2. “Wild One

First released as a single in ‘93, this cover found fame even greater than the original by Zaca Creek. The already well-written lyrics were taken to another level by Hill’s voice, “She's a wild one / With an angel's face / She's a woman child in a state of grace.” The song is free and inspiring, just like Hill’s voice.

3. “Breathe”

From her 1998 album Breathe, this title track just continued to give more force to Hill’s prospering career. It succeeded so much due to its ability to crossover pop and country. “In a way / I know my heart is waking up / As all the walls come tumbling down.” It combines the upbeat sound that pop is known for, as well as the emotional storytelling that brings out country music's signature tone.

4. “Take Me As I Am”

Peaking at number two on the US Hot Country Charts in 1994, “Take Me As I Am” is empowering and skillful in demonstrating Hill’s skill. This song establishes the relationship between high self-esteem and love, “Put my life all up in these songs / Just so you can feel me / So you can get the real me.” This song is one of the earliest examples of powerful female country music.

5. “It’s Your Love”

This duet between Hill and McGraw has won multiple awards for its beauty and eloquence in articulating love. It bares the soul of their relationship with artistic lyrics and their beautiful voices, “And now that we're together / I'm stronger than ever, I'm happy and free.” This song is a prime example of the fantastic works that brought Hill to the top of the female country charts and made her a household name.

Nineties music always pulls people into side conversations about where they still watch old performances, live specials, or random clips that hit harder now than they did years ago. In those talks, youtube tv reviews comes up for a practical reason. Streaming sounds simple until households start arguing over subscriptions, channels, and whether a service actually earns its monthly cost. Someone in my family went through that exact debate during football season and then kept the subscription around for music content and weekend background watching. That is usually how these services stick: not because of one big selling point, but because they quietly become part of normal routines people do not want to rebuild from scratch.
