Top Songs Written by Luke Laird
Songwriter Luke Laird has carved a path in Nashville that led him to one of the most in-demand songwriters in Music City. He's written numerous songs sung by all of country music's biggest names like Thomas Rhett, Eric Church, Jon Pardi, Kenny Chesney, Chris Young, Carrie Underwood, and many more. He's also produced records for Kacey Musgraves. To celebrate his fresh and innovative style, here are some of the top songs written by the Grammy winner.
1. "So Small" by Carrie Underwood
"So Small" was Underwood's lead single for her second album. The track was written by Underwood alongside Hilary Lindsey and Laird. It was Laird's first number one hit.
2. "American Kids" by Kenny Chesney
One of Chesney's most famous tracks, "American Kids" was almost recorded by Tim McGraw and then on hold for Little Big Town. Chesney fell in love with the track that was written by Laird, Shane McAnally, and Rodney Clawson. It was also nominated for a Grammy Award.
3. "Space Cowboy" by Kacey Musgraves
Laird and Musgraves have a history. Laird won a Grammy for producing Musgraves' debut album Same Trailer Different Park. On her record, Golden Hour Laird co-wrote the lead single "Space Cowboy." He also helped pen "Butterflies."
4. "Drink In My Hand" by Eric Church
One of Church's biggest hits and fan-favorite tracks "Drink In My Hand" was co-written by Laird, Michael Heeney, and Church himself. It came out in 2011 and was the second single from his LP Chief. "Drink In My Hand" scored Laird another number one and also became Church's very first number one on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart.
5. "Pontoon" by Little Big Town
"Pontoon" was written by Laird, Natalie Hemby, and Barry Dean. The song was the lead single from their fifth LP Tornado. The track won Single of the Year at the 2012 CMA Awards and it also won the group the Grammy Award for Best Country Duo/Group Performance in 2013.
