Troubadour Blue Release "Drinkin's Good" and "Boy Who Cried Wolf"
The trio known as Troubadour Blue is gearing up to release their debut album, but is giving listeners a taste of what's to come. They released their new single "Drinkin's Good" along with the bonus accompanying track "Boy Who Cried Wolf," and it's worth taking a listen.
Troubadour Blue is known for its engrossing lyricism that is backed by captivating instrumentals. The trio is composed of siblings, Brenna and Eli Wheeler, along with Daniel Kim Ethridge. Daniel and Brenna first collaborated during their time at Belmont University in Nashville and several years later Eli found his way into the mix. The news of the trio's upcoming album, expected in 2024, comes during their tour which includes dates with GRAMMY award-winning group The SteelDrivers.
The double release might seem unconventional, but it reflects the Side A / Side B theme of their future record. It feels like a step back in time when honky-tonk music was in its prime. Both "Drinkin's Good" and "Boy Who Cried Wolf" were produced by Mitch Ferr, who's worked with Keith Urban, and Tammy Rogers of The Steeldrivers.
There is no denying the pure country roots the trio holds dear. They sing, "I'll be loving you / as long as the drinkin's good." There is a sweeping tempo that one can't help but get caught up in. The "Boy Who Cried Wolf" has a distinct storytelling quality that so many love about the country genre. This is a trio that puts their artistry on full display without holding back.
