Today is her birthday, so we’re digging up 5 Martina McBride songs you may not know, but will definitely love.
1. “True Blue Fool” from the 1992 album The Time Has Come
“I’m so blue, lonely for you. What makes you treat me the way that you do. I’ve been true only to you. Just call me your true blue fool.”
2. “Goin’ to Work” from the 1993 album The Way That I Am
“Oh, I got to stay busy that’s the only way. Throw myself into my business and collect my pay. Watch me keep it together while I fall apart ’cause a world won’t stop for a broken heart, oh no, no.”
3. “Swingin’ Doors” from the 1995 album Wild Angels
“You must think my heart has swingin’ doors. The way that you keep comin’ back and forth and I can feel it’s getting close to closing time and I won’t be leavin’ my heart open anymore.”
4. “I Won’t Close My Eyes” from the 1997 album Evolution
“Love’s a matter of trust and I just want to believe in us, but last night in your kiss, I felt a lie on your lips. I won’t knock on your door. I won’t call to see if you’re home, but I won’t close my eyes.”
5. “Make Me Believe” from the 1999 album Emotion
“Baby, I’m trying to find a place inside your heart. Oh, but it’s hard to start a fire without a spark. If you wanna be the man that rocks me to my knees. Baby, just make me believe.”
Happy birthday, Martina McBride!
