Who Will Win Entertainer of the Year at the 2022 CMA Awards?

Winning Entertainer of the Year is considered to be the highest honor in country music. The recipient of this award is thought to have represented country music the best out of all of its peers for that year. While each nominee is well deserving of this award, only one can win.

Luke Combs

Combs is the reigning Entertainer of the Year, having won in 2021. He released his third album Growin' Up in June of this year and performed several stadium shows. Combs also saw two singles reach No. 1 with "Doin This" and "The Kind Of Love We Make." While appearing on popular podcasts, Combs even admitted that he and Morgan Wallen appear to be the biggest names in country music today. Let's see if Combs can win back-to-back years.

Carrie Underwood

Underwood has been nominated for this award several times, and rightfully so. She is often hailed as one of the brightest stars in country music with her stadium-sized voice; Underwood has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame after all. 2022 saw the singer release her album Denim & Rhinestones, launch a highly anticipated tour, and give wowing performances at award shows. With a vocal talent to rival the greats and a recognizable brand, this may be the year Underwood snags the award.

Morgan Wallen

Wallen is undoubtedly a fan favorite to win in this category. While his Dangerous: The Double Album came out in 2021, it continues to shatter records. His singles "Sand In My Boots" and "Wasted On You" became top-selling songs, and "You Proof" has spent four weeks at No. 1. Even those who don't listen to country music know plenty about this singer-songwriter. However, it should be mentioned that he got himself involved in a racial slur controversy last year which could hurt his chances.

Miranda Lambert

Like Underwood, Lambert has been up for this award many times. Palomino was released earlier this year to widespread critical acclaim. The songs "Geraldene" and "Actin' Up" became favorites on social media platforms such as TikTok. Lambert also launched her Las Vegas residency Velvet Rodeo. The proud Texan, always one to keep busy, created the Wanda June Home Collection in a deal with Walmart. Beyond music, Lambert continues to make an impact on how country music is viewed.

Chris Stapleton

Stapleton possesses one of the most remarkable voices in the music industry. Even Adele has sung his praises. This singer-songwriter seems to create one magnificent song after another. A CMA favorite, he has won Male Vocalist of the Year and Album of the Year in the past. Taylor Swift also enlisted his talents on her song "I Bet You Think About Me" from her re-recorded Red (Taylor's Version) album. While he may be viewed as an underdog in this category, anything is possible.
