After releasing an album with over 30 songs in May, Zach Bryan surprised fans by releasing a new EP titled Summertime Blues. The title track has been previously released and performed in many of his live shows.
Bryan has quickly become a breakout favorite among fans of country, and beyond. The singer-songwriter seemingly finds new ways to tell age - old stories. Whether he writes about love, loss, or finding oneself, he adds new meaning to the definition of an "artist." his debut album American Heartbreak received critical acclaim. "Something In The Orange" is a stand-out track that has been added to several top playlists on streaming platforms. Summertime Blues will undoubtedly follow in the same pattern as his past music releases.
The nine song EP begins in a signature, thundering way that makes Bryan sound like the days of Johnny Cash. "Quittin' Time" possesses a beat that picks up steam throughout the track. The song is an ode to the working class as he sings, "Desert sure is hot, and we've been working through the day / I pray I get back to my loving lady's gate."
Bryan pours out what is in his heart with each song, but especially on "All The Time." "Why can't you love me like I need you to, such a simple task at hand, well you can't cure a broken man, or mend his gun - hot hand." Bryan is more forgiving on "Us Then," as it is about looking back and wishing things could go back to the uncomplicated beginning.

On a record that is so cohesive and authentic, "Twenty So" finds a way to stand out. This song details the highs and lows of being in the in-between stage of life. "Queen - sized mattress on an old oak floor / And I don't see the need in closing the screen door / I wanna hear the birds when the day finally comes / How I fear all my days of being young are done." Bryan once again succeeds in writing a truly American soundtrack for his generation.
