Carrie Underwood Kicks Off 'Denim & Rhinestones Tour' in Greenville, South Carolina

Carrie Underwood kicked off her Denim and Rhinestones tour on October 15th, 2022, at the Bon Secours Wellness Arena in Greenville, SC. The first date acted as the explosive kickoff to one of Underwood's most dynamic and dazzling live shows yet.

To begin with, the concert was absolutely phenomenal. As someone who has never seen Underwood perform live, I was in for a brilliant surprise. Her voice is even more beautiful and powerful in person.

Rising artist Jimmie Allen is Underwood’s opener for the tour. Allen’s voice was the perfect introduction that had fans eager for more. “Best Shot” and “Make Me Want To” were incredible to see live. His stage presence gave the audience a feeling of comfort and excitement for the show to come.

After Allen performed his eight-song opener, a live DJ performed. Though not traditional in concerts, it filled the between the time of Allen to Underwood exceptionally well. The DJ got the audience pumped up with classics like “Sweet Child O’ Mine” and “All Star." After the DJ’s short setlist, he rallied the audience with chants of “We love Carrie!"

The time finally came, and the atmosphere was at an all-time high. Even from the nosebleeds, the energy was unmatched. Underwood rose from the floor and began with “Good Girls." The fans were yelling every lyric and jumping with glee. There were also many points where the room was silent, taking in the magical aura of Underwood’s powerful voice.

Her 24-song setlist did not disappoint. She sang most songs on the main stage; however, she

also sang a few on the B stage. Fans were wondering how she would get from point A to point B. Would she travel underground? Maybe in a box? To everyone’s shock, Underwood flew across the arena on a giant, floral swing to the B stage singing “Ghost Story." Her most notable performance on the B stage was a mash-up of “Jesus, Take the Wheel” and “How Great Thou Art." Her voice was a powerhouse in the arena. Fans gave standing ovations during “How Great Thou Art” and wept with overwhelming emotion.

Underwood’s voice was like none other. When she finished on the B stage, she flew back to the main stage on a giant, flying planet ball while appearing with neon pink angel wings behind her. While she was swinging around above the audience, she belted “Crazy Angels." The flight in itself was incredibly impressive. Underwood performed acrobatics while up in the air and singing with ease. When she was lowered to the stage, she finished the rest of her setlist with classics like “Church Bells," “Blown Away," and “Last Name." These were

performed in a way fans have never seen. She took her oldies to the next level with impressive vocal runs and even some choreography.

From her new album, she performed “Garden," “She Don’t Know," “Burn," and other favorites. Along with these classic Underwood pieces, she also performed a cover of “Welcome to the Jungle” by Guns N’ Roses towards the end. Her cover was unexpected, yet perfect for Underwood’s hellraiser of a voice.

It wouldn’t be an Underwood tour without the “rhinestones” of the night. She had over six costume changes throughout the entire show. Underwood was decked out head to toe in jewels and glitter with every new outfit. One of her most notable costumes was a stunning gold romper paired with cowboy boots.

Another “rhinestone” moment was when Underwood performed a drum solo. This had fan’s jaws on the floor with awe. Underwood’s dedication to this tour was proven through this incredible moment. Dedication to the tour was also shown when Underwood and Allen performed a set choreography to her song, “Denim and Rhinestones." Their dance break together was unmatched. Fans loved to see the two together with such high energy.

It wouldn’t be an Underwood show without the finale of “Before He Cheats”. Underwood rocked the ending and the crowd’s energy was electric. At the end of the song, she thanked her fans for such a great kickoff to her most memorable tour.
