Taylor Sanders "Firecracker" Song Review
Taylor Sanders has finally released her highly anticipated debut single, “Firecracker." Breaking into the country-pop world back in May, she had been building an audience with her covers of legendary country artists such as Dolly Parton and Patsy Cline.
This powerhouse anthem is an attention grabber from the jump. An ode to self-confidence and self-love, the chorus of the song speaks for itself: “I light it up big / Bold and loud just like the 4th of July / I’ll getcha so sweaty like Kentucky on a hot summer night / I’m a heartbreakin’ baby 'cause I’m so hard to catch / I’m a firecracker baby, could you be the match.” In a press release, Sanders talks about how she is a fighter at her core, having to face invasive melanoma in 2014. The heart of this song embodies who she is as a person - bold, spicy, loud, and confident. She portrays a clear message that she’s not willing to dim her light and needs someone who can match her energy.
Making a nod to her Eastern Kentucky roots in this song, she was mostly raised in Kingsport, Tennessee. Sanders was as young as ten years old when she released her first album, which was mostly country covers. As the years went on, she curated her craft by learning to play the piano and taking voice lessons. She broke into the spotlight with her covers of country hits like “Jolene” and “Walkin’ After Midnight”. The power of her vocals was not lost on anyone, as this year she was selected to open for The Gatlin Brothers.
Sanders will be exciting to watch, as one can feel the power and passion in her voice. Not only is her first single debut the perfect fall anthem, but it carries a great message for young women everywhere. It’s easy to be drawn to her confidence and her passion for personal well-being and health. She’s just getting started in the music industry and spends her free time raising awareness for skin cancer by working with The Melanoma Research Foundation on their “#GetNaked. It may save your life” campaign.
